British and Croatian cultures are very different in many things. Traditions are big part of Croatian culture and my favorite ones are Christmas ones so I decided to share how we celebrate Christmas.
Most of the Croatians spend Christmas holidays at home with their families and I'm gonna tell you how I spend mine.
On Christmas Eve we have lunch or dinner with our closest family, it is usually fish or calamari. We also decorate our house and set up Christmas tree while listening to Christmas songs. In the evening we go out with our friends, usually in the clubs or pubs. Some people first go to the service at midnight and after the service they come to the city to celebrate Christmas. We come home around 5/6 am, it's always a great party for Christmas in the city.
On Christmas day I have lunch with my family (around 10 people), we eat traditional food; roasted pork, potatos and Salad Olivier. After lunch everyone else comes at our place, around 30 people because I have big family. Also my friends come for dinner and to hang out because they love the atmosphere when my house is full. They all usually go home around 11pm.
On Boxing day, or St. Stephens day as we call it, we go to my cousin's house because his name is Stephen so he always prepares a party.
After that there are few peaceful days till New Year's Eve and we all just stay home, hang with family and friends and eat leftovers.
