How did the long-awaited documentary on Margiela end up on Pornhub?
Documentary on the self-sacrificing giant of the fashion world hits its unofficial premiere on a surprising platform. The news that the "Martin Margiela: In His Own Words" documentary has been leaked to a world-renowned site reserved for 'adult movies' has surprised some and delighted some. This is the second movie on Pornhub that has nothing to do with the usual content, so what's this about?

Just a year ago, a documentary was announced about an individual who can most simply be described as the “great of the fashion industry and history”. The name of Martin Margiela is well known to every true fashion enthusiast and expert. On the other hand, the same name and the name behind it is quite enigmatic. The Belgian designer, who has left an indelible mark on fashion, is one of the few whose faces has almost never appeared in public, and who has made a complete contribution to the fashion industry and the design only and strictly to his work.
Reiner Holzemer, director of the new documentary on Margiela, described it as a rare glimpse into the life of a self-deprecating designer who, while skillfully still hiding his face, speaks to life's inspiration, his own aspirations, and the importance he has continued to attach to anonymity for years and why he is still unsure that he is completely done with the fashion world. Margiela retired as creative director of the fashion house of the same name in 2009, and a few years later the highly controversial John Galliano took over that role. Since then, Margiela has completely disappeared from the scene and said goodbye to the fashion industry. However, to the best of our knowledge, this is no longer necessarily true.

The premiere of the documentary was announced on 10th of April via Dogwoof media, but to the surprise of many, it has debuted on the Pornhub website. This is not the first time the platform has released content of a non-pornographic nature, more precisely, the first ever of its kind was the movie "Shakedown" made by the former Hood By Air brand director Leilahe Weiraub. The film deals with the Los Angeles queer strip scene from the beginning of the millennium and has previously premiered in numerous galleries. So did this documentary about Margiela end up on Pornhub, but still under unexplained circumstances. However, Pornhub brand director Alex Klein once said he wanted to make Pornhub a platform where a wider range of artists and visionaries will be able to present their works that do not necessarily follow the usual content of 'adult films', but primarily encourage art and creative expression.
So it is not surprising, on the one hand, that someone has decided on its own to make the long-awaited documentary about one of the greatest designers available on Pornhub. Who knows, at a fast-changing world, maybe the fact that a platform like Pornhub is expanding its vision and not so surprising. Still, until it is resolved whether it is a marketing ploy or copyright infringement.
