Each and every culture has different meanings for different colors. Meanings are often coming from history or religion, but some of them also find meanings in social and spiritual events that are typical for their cultures.
Few days ago we had really interesting lecture about red color what inspired me to start searching more about meanings of certain colors. Colors that are surrounding us, colors we see every day at home, on the street or the ones we wear but don't pay attention to them. I decided to explore what can I find out for yellow because it's one of the primary colors and it has many different meanings (also it's my favorite color so it's a win-win situation hehe).
YELLOW
Almost everyone's first thought about yellow is sunshine, happiness and joy. It is a color that represents optimism, freshness, positivity and energy all over the world.
It can also represent cowards so now when you hear someone is being called "yellow" you know what they meant.
Bright yellow easily catches attention, especially when combined with black. It makes perfect combination when you have yellow background and black letters because it is easy to rad from distance. That is the main reason why yellow is used for buses, taxis and signs.
Yellow is color that mostly catches kids attention and is used to promote toys and food, because of that men automatically refuse to buy items in yellow color or even in yellow packaging so they wouldn't seem childish.
Study shows that yellow color can increase mental and physical activity. It makes you more friendly and happy. It is also recommended for adults not to spend time in rooms painted in yellow if they wanna focus on certain task, also you could easily become too critical and demanding.
On the other hand lack of yellow in your life may cause feel of loneliness, low self-esteem and isolation so be sure you bring a little bit of sunshine in your life.

Yellow also has different meanings in specific countries:
Japan- courage
India- color of merchants
Egypt- signifying the dead
Western cultures- joy, happiness
Russia- yellow house is insane asylum
China- yellow movies are adult movies
Mexico- certain shade of yellow represents death
